Thank You Team

I am currently a life scout in Troop 2 working towards becoming an Eagle Scout. I have been a Boy Scout for over 8 years, have made lifelong friends, learned to love outdoor activities, camping in summer and winter, teamwork, effective communication, community service and leadership.

With the help of Mr and Mrs.Hockensmith, Mr. Ken Filicky and our Troop leaders, I was able to identify, finalize details and plan for my Eagle Scout Project. My Eagle Scout Service Project involved tearing down and rebuilding an old bridge over Deer Creek in the Poland Township Park. This bridge will be part of a feature trail leading to the newly acquired wetland area.

From the skills and leadership to the friendships and memories, everything we do and learn in scouting can be used to make us better human beings.

The true reward of becoming an Eagle Scout isn’t the fanfare at the finish but the experiences along the way. I am very thankful to have such a supporting Troop, friends, family and township.

Thank you Eagle Scout Sponsors
Old worn out bridge over Deer Creek, that needs to be torn down. Our team removed old wood and nails, disposed of them safely.
We re-used existing Telephone poles to support the bridge, by cleaning it up and protecting them from various weather elements with a layer of ice guard. New pieces of wood were then laid on top of the Ice guard to form the bridge.
The team then started to work on building the new bridge and the guardrail and finished the work after two days of hard work
The team proudly sitting on the bridge they just built.  It was hours of hard work to get to this point.
What a satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment it was to finally get the work done and walk on the bridge that we just built.
